I grew up in rural southwest Georgia. Dad owned several small businesses over the years and mom was an elementary school teacher. Mom and Dad both worked hard, and always made time to take me to tennis lessons, go fishing, and go to church.

In rural South Georgia, life centers on work, school, and church. It was instilled in me how important it is to mind your mama and do the right thing. I also knew that if I didn’t do the right thing, somebody would call my mama and she would tell my dad. You get the idea. As a boy in our small town, I learned many life lessons that I am teaching my sons now. Top of mind are that community matters, friendship is a gift, and you had better do what you said you would do. Another one that stands out is that the harder you work, the luckier you get.

Gramps is my mom’s dad. He was a lifelong investor. Gramps kept a notebook of every investment he ever bought and sold. He taught me what he knew about quality investments and the value of a dollar. Gramps made sure that I knew that making good financial decisions was not a luxury. It was a necessity. What he knew and put in to action afforded him and my grandmother a retirement that spanned over 40 years. My mom and dad are still enjoying the retirement harvest that Gramps and Gran planted during their lives.

I began my career at Edward Jones in 2002 armed with excellent training from Gramps and a strong desire to help people make good financial decisions. In 2003 I hung out my shingle in Hinesville, Georgia. After 17 years, we made the change to Raymond James. There is no shortage of “financial advice” out there. It works so much better to get to know the people that come to me for help before I started offering advice. That led us to develop a customized process tailored to the families and business people we help. I believe Raymond James has proven to be the best place to do exactly that for the families we work with.

What is important to me?
-
My Creator
-
My Family
-
Working for them like I mean it.

We help families and business people with their investments, but there is much more to it than just money. Relationships are our greatest gift. When the situation calls for it, we bring skilled technicians to our team, for the families we work for. Timber, real estate, farming, family law, tax law, tax planning, I can go on and on. We connect people. We connect Business owners, professionals, entrepreneurs, and families with people we trust. Those people who share the same values we do.

I am in love with my wife Jessica and my boys Matthew, John T., Mark, and Ty. They are awesome. For fun I play with children. That is my favorite. Usually “play” is sorting cows, riding our horses, handling our bird dogs, or coaching soccer. The job of “dad” is the one I am most proud of.
